P.J. King competes in the calf-roping event during the Adams County Sheriff’s Deputies Rodeo at the Wayne Johnson Arena Saturday. King caught the calf and finished with a time of nine seconds. During the two-day event, more than 200 cowboys and cowgirls competed in various riding and roping events. All the money raised by the event went to the deputies’ fund, which is used to help families of sick and bereaved deputies and to purchase equipment. (Sam Gause / The Natchez Democrat)
