NATCHEZ — Police were searching Sunday evening for the man they believe shot and killed a Natchez man earlier in the day.
Pierre Tenner, 42, was pronounced dead at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Merit Health Natchez after suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper right hip, Natchez Police Department Detective Jerry Ford said.
The shooting, which took place on Hampton Court around 12:30 p.m. Sunday, was believed to be a domestic dispute, Adams County Coroner James Lee said.
“It was a senseless killing,” Lee said. “It’s tragic for both sides of the family.”
The suspect, Casey Woods, allegedly shot Tenner after an argument ensued Sunday afternoon.
Apparently, Tenner accused Woods of having a relationship with Tenner’s estranged wife, police said.
Ford said Woods was staying at the house with Tenner’s wife while the couple allegedly was separated.
During the argument, Ford said, Woods went into the house to get a shotgun, which he used to shoot Tenner.
Ford said Woods is still at large, after fleeing the scene of the crime following the shooting.
Ford said the murder has developed into a stressful situation for all involved.
“You are dealing with two situations,” Ford said. “You are dealing with one family that’s left with the tragedy of losing a loved one. Then you are dealing with another family who has to deal with the situation of knowing that their loved one was involved in a crime.”
Anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts can call Crime Stoppers at 601-442-5000. Crime Stoppers offers a reward of up to $1,000 for tips leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect.
