NATCHEZ — Natchez Police are searching for an armed robbery suspect who visited a check-cashing store Wednesday afternoon.

Natchez Police Lt. Craig Godbold said a black male suspect with a pistol entered Check Into Cash at 289 Seargent S. Prentiss Drive at approximately 2 p.m.

The suspect, described to be in his early 20s, is between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall with a slim build. He was wearing a dark-colored jacket with a hood that boasts a fur lining, Godbold said.

“He was also wearing a white mask across his face, so (the witnesses) couldn’t see his face,” Godbold said.

Two tellers were working at the store at the time of the robbery. The suspect pointed his pistol at the tellers, and demanded one of the tellers open the cash drawer. The suspect came prepared with a bag for the money.

“Right now we don’t know how much cash he got away with,” Godbold said. “He got away on foot.”

Godbold said no injuries were reported, however, the suspect did threaten the tellers.

“He told them, ‘I’ll blow your brains out,’” Godbold said.

Wednesday’s armed robbery comes on the heels of an robbery at Regions Bank on Franklin Street Monday morning.

Natchez Police investigators believe the two incidents are unrelated and that the suspect involved in Monday’s robbery is linked to several other bank robberies in Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma.
