NATCHEZ — The Natchez-Adams School District Board of Trustees voted Thursday to partner with a teacher development organization to provide professional development for teachers.

The goal of the partnership with Bailey Education Group is the creation and adjustment of curriculum guides for secondary content area teachers, as well as training for teaching on the block schedule.

The district will begin professional development for teachers this month and it will run through July in preparation for the 2015-16 school year.

Bailey Education Group will work with teachers to improve classroom effectiveness and student learning.

“As we go through the year, the teachers learn some things that are better than others — so at the end of every year we made it our policy to go back to review and tweak the curriculum,” Natchez-Adams School District board president Tim Blalock said.

Bailey’s teacher coaches will facilitate curriculum writing with specified Natchez-Adams School District teachers, and teachers will learn the process of updating current curriculum framework and pacing while aligning available print and digital resources, officials said.

Participants will also understand the necessary components of curriculum by utilizing available print and digital resources.

The $14,500 cost for the project will be funded through federal programs.
