NATCHEZ — Services for the Rev. Layforn Profice Sr., 66, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at the Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Zion Hill Baptist Church No. 1 with the Rev. Joe W. Pickett officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Son Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and at 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.
Rev. Profice was born Jan. 24, 1949, in Natchez, the son of Carl Theodore Profice Sr. and Georgia McCrainey Profice.
He was a member and associate minister at Zion Hill Baptist Church No. 1. He was also a U.S. Air Force veteran and a retired U.S. postman.
Rev. Profice was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Redd Profice; his father; and two uncles, Alfred and Herbert McCrainey.
Survivors include two sons, Layforn Profice Jr. and wife, Tina, of Starkville and Darren Profice of Natchez; his mother of Natchez; three granddaughters, Kinsey and Sidney Profice of Starkville and Yazmyne Profice of Memphis, Tenn.; one sister, Annie Profice Mosby; three brothers, Carl Profice and wife, Patricia, Willie Profice and wife, Rosena, and Larry Profice and wife, Sandra, all of Natchez; four uncles, James Profice and wife, Mary, and Huey McCrainey and wife, Dorothy, all of Natchez, Jake McCrainey and wife, Thelma, of Chicago, and Manuel McCrainey and wife, Thelma, of New Orleans; two aunts, Ammie Isaac of New Orleans and Lee Anna Morris of Los Angeles; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
