NATCHEZ — A Natchez man was arrested Monday on allegations he shot an acquaintance last week.
Jordan D. Johnson, 19, 935 N. Union St., was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault in connection with the April 29 incident.
Natchez Police Department Investigator Jerry Ford said the incident happened between 9 and 10 p.m., when the suspect allegedly shot the victim once in the hand, once in the knee and once in the upper right hip in the area of 200 Watts Ave.
The victim — a male in his early 20s — was transported to Natchez Regional Medical Center, where he identified Johnson as the shooter, Ford said.
“The victim said he didn’t know why the guy shot him,” Ford said. “He said he does know they had a run in a while back where they had gotten into an altercation, but he didn’t think anything of it because it has been a while since then.”
Investigators were able to recover shell casings from the scene of the shooting, Ford said. Johnson was arrested Monday after officers saw him walking down the street.
The suspect was detained Tuesday without bond.
The victim was treated and later released from the hospital.
