NATCHEZ — Class was in session Saturday when Trinity Episcopal Day School hosted its annual Trinity Mayfair.

Organized by Trinity Public Information and Advancement Director Tammi Gardner, the Trinity Mayfair serves as the school’s biggest fundraiser, said Trinity Head of School Les Hegwood.

“We hope to make money, but more than anything, we like for everybody to be together and have a good time,” Hegwood said.

In his three years as head of school, Hegwood found much excitement during this year’s Trinity Mayfair.

“I’ve seen a lot of smiling faces and I like how it’s more about the kids this year,” he said. “It’s a real good family feel and that’s what it’s all about.”

The Trinity Mayfair offered a kid zone for students young and old alike, which included inflatable jumpers, obstacle courses and game booths.

But it was the school’s history that drew some community members to the Trinity Mayfair — including Trinity alumni John Mott Coffey.

Coffey, who graduated from Trinity in 1975, attended the Trinity Mayfair to be recognized with Trinity classes of 1975, 1985, 1995 and 2005.

“I find this to be the most meaningful part of the Mayfair,” Coffey said. “For me, it’s looking back at photos of the people who came after me.”

Natchez resident Kent Knee has attended the Trinity Mayfair for a number of years — taking pictures for the school.

But Knee said that’s not the most exciting feature of the Trinity Mayfair.

Seeing Trinity alumni flood the halls should make individuals think about how far this school has come, Knee said.

Gardner said this year’s Trinity Mayfair was fantastic because of its change in programming.

“In the years past, we would have a adult night,” Gardner said. “This year we just made it more of a family oriented event by having it during the day.”

Gardner said the Trinity Mayfair would continue to grow in the years to come.

“I think it was very successful,” she said. “It’s a concept to build on for now on and make it bigger and better every year.”

A live silent auction took place during the Trinity Mayfair that included various merchandise and packages.
