WILCOX, Ala. — A Natchez man died Thursday in a head-on traffic collision in Alabama.

Van Tracy Chaney, 48, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred at 8:57 p.m. on Interstate 10 westbound near the 55- mile marker, according to a news release from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Public Information and Education Unit.

The 1999 Toyota Tacoma Chaney was driving collided head-on with a 2000 Nissan Frontier two miles east of the Wilcox, Ala., exit, according to the release.

Chaney was not wearing a seat belt.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, the statement said.
