FERRIDAY — After a long winter and a spring that was seemingly wet as often as it was sunny, things need sprucing up.
The Town of Ferriday plans to do that starting at 8 a.m. May 9.
The decision to have a town-wide cleanup came after the board of aldermen’s meeting this week, during which Alderwoman Gloria Lloyd said it was time for the annual cleaning.
Lloyd said the town would encourage residents to participate in the effort in the coming weeks, and would be putting out dumpsters for them to dispose any waste.
“We are going to be out cleaning the ditches, and if we have to clean some people’s yards, we will do what we can within the law,” she said.
Mayor Gene Allen said the effort will meet up at Haney’s Big House and the town will be equipping people with lawnmowers, weed eaters, saws and other tools.
“We are going to start at 9 a.m. and go until it is time to stop,” he said.
