2 die in Tuesday crash; Jonesville child receives moderate injuries

ONESVILLE — A man and a child are dead and a small child is injured following a single-vehicle crash Tuesday night.
Zachary Giles, 28, and Autumn Giles, 9, both of Jonesville, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which Louisiana State Police responded to on Louisiana 565 south of U.S. 84. at 10:23 p.m.
The injured child, a 4-year-old male from Jonesville, received moderate injuries and was transported to Riverland Medical Center.
According to an LSP news release, the 2001 GMC Sonoma Giles was driving was northbound when it exited the right side of the highway and struck a tree after Giles lost control of it.
The crash remains under investigation, but the LSP release says excessive speed is a suspected factor and none of the occupants was properly restrained.
Routine toxicology reports are pending.
