More good news hits the Miss-Lou

Some may say Natchez is small, but its reputation is anything but that. Between the Lady Bulldogs basking in their state championship glory with a parade to Hollywood revealing potential plans to adapt “Natchez Burning” into a full-fledged television series, our “small town” saw some big news last week.
Let’s take a moment to recap:
4Wednesday, the Natchez Lady Bulldogs basketball team took to the streets with a parade to celebrate their come-from-behind victory against West Jones High School in the MHSAA Class 5A State Championship. The win marked the Bulldogs’ second consecutive championship, and we could not be more proud of their hard work and the phenomenal leadership provided by head coach Alphaka Moore. The parade was well deserved, and we hope to see many more wins in the Bulldogs’ future.
4Eighth grader Madison Delaney epitomizes the Easter spirit by designing and delivering Easter cards to the residents of a local assisted living center. What a great, yet simple gift.
4 Gov. Phil Bryant signed the documents necessary to transfer ownership of more than 80 acres of land to the City of Natchez. Much of the land was initially set aside for use as an ending point for the Natchez Trace Parkway, but was left unused when the Trace’s route was reworked.
4If you haven’t read Greg Iles’ “Natchez Burning,” now might be the time to do so. Wednesday night, news broke that Iles’ bestseller may be adapted into a television series produced by acclaimed actor Tobey Maguire. And while nothing has been set in stone yet, all or part of the series potentially could be filmed in the Natchez area. Iles said if the production is green-lighted, filming could begin as early as summer 2016.
So, much like Natchez did last week, let’s roll out the red carpet into another great week of good news.
