NATCHEZ — The Natchez Police are investigating a shooting incident in which one man was wounded and stray bullets flew into nearby buildings.
Natchez Police Department officers responded to a report of shots fired at Holiday Apartments on Old Washington Road shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday, NPD Investigator Jerry Ford said.
When the officers arrived on the scene, they were told a group of people — the number of which is unknown — had gotten into a dispute outside the apartments that ultimately led to people firing shots at each other.
Ford said police have not determined how many people were shooting during the incident.
During the exchange of gunfire, two apartments were struck with stray bullets, Ford said, though no one inside was harmed.
A bullet grazed one man who was outside the apartments on the upper leg and buttocks, Ford said.
The victim is not cooperating with police, so they are unsure if he was involved in the dispute, Ford said.
The incident remains under investigation.
