NATCHEZ — Services for Valerie Onu Medrano, 62, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, March 18, 2015, in Natchez, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at George F. West Sr. Memorial Chapel, West Gate Funeral Home.

Arrangements are under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be at 5 to 5:45 p.m. today with a celebration of life wake service at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Medrano was born April 20, 1952, in Chicago, the daughter of Alfreda Brown Butler and Francis Brown Sr.

She was a 1970 graduate of Sadie V. Thompson High School and was employed by Kuhens Memorial Hospital in Vicksburg as a licensed practical nurse.

Valerie loved reading and rhythm and blues.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Survivors include her husband, Marcos Medrano Sr. of New Orleans; her mother and her husband, Joseph; two sons, Marcos Medrano Jr. of Natchez and Ruben Bedley of Maryland; one daughter, Valerie Medrano of Natchez; one brother, Francis Brown Jr. and wife, Amanda; three sisters, Pamela Nelson of Chicago, Francine Brown Harris and husband, Jerry, of Dallas and Diane Davis of Natchez; and other relatives and friends.
