FAYETTE — A Jefferson County woman previously reported missing was found dead Monday off of U.S. 61 South in Jefferson County.

Jefferson County Sheriff Peter E. Walker said Loretha Council Guice, 51, was found dead inside of her car off U.S. 61 South near Mississippi 553 in Jefferson County.

Guice’s car was positioned off the road going into a wooded area when she was found, Walker said.

Walker said there were no signs of a homicide.

“We are still investigating to see what exactly happened,” Walker said.

The Mississippi Bureau of Inves-tigation issued a missing persons alert Saturday upon Guice’s disappearance. At the time, family mem-bers told law enforcement authorities that she suffered from a medical condition that could impair her judgment.
