NATCHEZ — Chase Kaiser, 12, accomplished a feat last weekend at Beau Pré Country Club that both his father and grandfather before him never have.
With his dad behind him, watching from a golf cart, Chase took his pitching wedge and lifted a ball 80 yards on the 16th hole. The ball landed right in the center of the green and started rolling.
“I remember saying, ‘That thing might go in the hole,’” said his father Hayden Kaiser III. “It got two feet away, and I said, ‘Oh my gosh!”
As the ball went into the hole for the hole in one, Chase took off running around the golf cart, as observers watched on in disbelief.
“He was running so fast after he made it that I couldn’t catch him,” Hayden said.
Chase, who loves to play golf and gained some experience playing in the Mississippi Junior Golf Association last summer, said it was one of the happiest moments of his life.
“It really was just a very happy moment,” said Chase who attends Cathedral School. “I couldn’t believe it.”
The feat Chase accomplished at 12 years old is something Hayden and his grandfather Hayden Kaiser Jr. have never been able to, despite nearly 100 combined years of playing experience. Chase jokingly said his dad will one day accomplish it, but it might take some time.
“He’ll probably catch me in a few years,” Chase said.
