Sunny skies are expected throughout today, but several showers are likely for the remainder of the weekend.
Natchez-Adams School District
hosting College Goal Sunday
The Natchez-Adams School District will host College Goal Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Natchez High School Saturday.
College Goal Sunday is a nationwide event that is generally hosted on Sunday afternoon, but dates vary per state.
College Goal Sunday is a state-based volunteer program, which provides free information and support to students and families who are applying for financial aid for a college education.
Area students who seek to attend college can complete and file a free application for Federal Student Aid and state forms during the event.
There is no cost to attend, complete or file forms.
Students who are interested in attending are asked to bring a copy of federal tax returns, driver’s license, W-2 forms or other records of money earned, current bank statements or total cash-on-hand, amount of investments not in retirement accounts and current business information.
Public relations coordinator Steven Richardson said College Goal Sunday is a nationwide event that was made local for area students.
“This is an opportunity that anyone interested in furthering their degree would want to take,” Richardson said. “It’s a really great opportunity to get in on seeking financial aid early because of how limited financial aid is.”
Because funds are limited, students applying for grants early are the best way to get available funds, Richardson said.
Representatives from several colleges will be at the event.
This is for all area high school students, including area private schools and Concordia Parish, Richardson said.
Applicants should bring those documents, as well as their social security numbers and birthdates.

Food samples, which will represent various countries, will be free to the pubic.
Dance, music and special readings will be included to promote world peace.
Information will also be available to girls interested in joining Girl Scouts.
The event is free and open to the public.

Hardbacks, paperbacks, large print and more will be sold.
