RACINE, Wis. — A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Marie A. Stone, 78, of Southlake, Texas, formerly of Ferriday, who died peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015, surrounded by her family, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Richard of Chichester Catholic Church in Racine, Wis., with the Rev. Ronald J. Gramza officiating.

Burial will follow at the Calvary Garden Crypts under the direction of Maresh-Meredith & Acklam Funeral Home in Racine.02:18 MarieStone obitpic

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Stone was born in 1936, in Louisiana. She met and married Scott Stone in 1954. Five children were born to this union.

Marie worked at the Ferriday post office until 1972, when the family relocated to Racine. She worked at the First Wisconsin Bank of Racine for two years until she reentered the postal service. Shortly thereafter, she was promoted to station manager of the West Racine post office where she worked until her retirement in 1991.

After the death of her husband, Marie relocated to Southlake, Texas, in 2012, to be with her family. She was loved and appreciated for her generosity and kindness, her numerous talents and her great spirit. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Stone was preceded in death by her husband, Scott C. Stone Sr.; one son, Scott C. Stone Jr. and wife, Marisa; two brothers, Andrew and wife, Eliza, and James; one sister, Estelle and husband, Cortez; and three brothers-in-law, Willie, Leandro and Sam.

Survivors include four daughters, Elyria and husband, William, DeEdra and husband, Dennis, Corliss and husband, Lorenzo, and Denessa and husband, Ivan; 13 grandchildren, Branden, Jared, Courtney, Corbin, Tyson, Arielle, Wyatt, Lauren, Ivan, Jessica, Morgan, Raven and Raquel; three sisters, Ernestine, Pearl and Irma Jean; one sister-in-law, Dorothy; and a number of loving relatives and friends.
