NATCHEZ — Two men wearing, blue jeans, black shirts and white bandanas over their faces allegedly attempted to rob the United Mississippi Bank at 20 Seargent S. Prentiss Drive Monday morning.

But since the bank was not yet open for business when the men arrived at 7:52 a.m., the men reportedly fled the scene after shaking the doors and realizing the doors were locked, NPD Investigator Craig Godbold said.

Witnesses saw the men run toward KFC after shaking the doors. Witnesses reported the men drove in a maroon sedan, Godbold said.

The bank at the location where the incident took place opens at 9 a.m.

Godbold said witnesses described the men as black and between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall. He said both men’s bandanas were folded over their faces, showing only their eyes.

NPD will continue to investigate the attempted bank robbery, Godbold said.
