WOODVILLE — It was only fitting that on the night the Wilkinson County Lady Rams honored their seven seniors, one of those seniors would come through with a game-winning hit in the last inning.
Senior Taylor Littleton hit a double in the bottom of the seventh inning that drove in the winning run in a 2-1 victory over Amite School Center on senior night.
Amite School Center jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but WCCA pitcher Bethany Fletcher held the Lady Rebels scoreless the rest of the game.
However, for the longest time it looked as if that one-run lead would stand up.
However, the Lady Rams tied the score in the bottom of the sixth, and after Fletcher kept Amite School Center off the scoreboard in the top of the seventh, Littleton hit her two-out double that scored the game winner.
Littleton was 2-for-3 in the game while Julia Pace also had a double for the Lady Rams.
Fletcher got the victory, pitching a complete game.
With the win, the Lady Rams improved their record to 17-6 on the season and will play in the MAIS Class AA South State tournament Saturday in Liberty.
