NATCHEZ — Delta-Energy Group announced today the location of a 91-job carbon reclaiming facility representing a $45 million investment at the former International Paper facility.
The investment includes a $3.75 million purchase of a building and 30 acres on the IP land.
Delta is a resource recovery company that mines materials derived from scrap tires for carbon solids and hydrocarbon liquids used in rubber compounds, which can then be used by downstream customers for use in rubber compounds and in the liquids-to-chemicals industry.
The Adams County operation will be a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company known as Delta-Energy Natchez LLC.
“We are pleased to bring to commercial scale our technology development efforts of more than 10 years in a community and state which demonstrate support for business innovation and real leadership in providing training skills development for its citizens,” said Paul Lee, CEO of Delta-Energy. “We are proud to call Natchez home and expect to accomplish great things together.”
Natchez Inc. Executive Director Chandler Russ characterized the location of the company to Adams County as “a growing opportunity.”
“The location of their operations here is big for our local area,” he said. “These are great jobs, averaging approximately $54,000 per job. Their selection of our area is evidence that we can compete and win. Their $45 million dollar investment puts a major tenant in the newly acquired Industrial Park. Delta will use our railroad, our port and existing infrastructure, but most importantly they will use our people, by employing them with quality jobs.”
Adams Count Board of Supervisors President Darryl Grennell said the location of Delta-Energy to Adams County is evidence of an outstanding relationship.
“Their commitment to our area shows that our best days continue to be ahead of us and proof that Adams County is an ideal place for business,” Grennell said. “Their ensuing purchase of a building and 30 acres of the 478 acre site for $3.75 million will be a shot in the arm and go a long way to reducing our overall debt for Adams County. Most importantly, our investment in the property is paying off in the form of new jobs and investment for area citizens. For these reasons we are grateful to Delta-Energy and appreciate their faith and investment in our area.”
The Mississippi Development Authority provided assistance in support of Adams County efforts to attract the project by funding to rebuild a rail spur serving the site.
“MDA is glad to have the resources in place to assist companies as they expand or locate in the state, and we are proud to welcome our newest business partner – Delta-Energy Group – to Southwest Mississippi,” said MDA Executive Director Brent Christensen. “We thank our partners at Natchez, Inc. and Adams County for their efforts in bringing Delta-Energy to our state.”
Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant said he appreciated the team at Delta-Energy for choosing to locate operations in Natchez.
“Companies locate and expand in Mississippi because we strive to provide a supportive business climate,”
Bryant said. “I look forward to watching Delta-Energy thrive in Adams County.”
