FERRIDAY — Services for Charles Balford Barnes, 86, of Vidalia, who passed from this world to go meet his wife and son at the gates of heaven Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at Riverland Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. today at The Pentecostals of the Miss Lou with the Rev. Gary Howington and the Rev. Jerremy Howington officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Mr. Barnes was born April 20, 1928, in Natchez, the son of Gene Barnes and Annie Jones Barnes.

He was an avid outdoorsman and loving family man who loved his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Julia Parker Barnes, one son, Jerry L. Barnes Sr.; two brothers, Eugene Barnes and Lionel Barnes; and four sisters, Jenitta Curtis, Virginia “Doe” Fitts, Rose Foster and Carrie Ferry.

Survivors include one son, Gene Barnes Sr. and wife, Mary, of Bargersville, Ind.; one daughter, Sherry L. Harris and husband, Billy D.; one daughter-in-law, Shelly Barnes; one brother, Larry L. Barnes and wife, Beatrice, all of Vidalia; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jarrord Paul Barnes, Justin Barnes, Timmy Foster, Travis Hustson, Gene Barnes Jr. and Lucas Barnes.

Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Roberts, Red Roberts, Clyde Boling and Eric Mixon.
