NATCHEZ — After being arrested for burglary and weapon charges on Sept. 11, Willie “Tight Knight” Edward Knight, the alleged car burglar who was a fugitive from justice all summer long, has more charges to reflect on in his cell — without bond.
Four more charges were tacked onto his record, including failure to register as a sex offender, burglary of a dwelling, possession of burglary tools and possession of two weapons by a convicted felon.
Knight, was originally arrested by Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies for one count of burglary of an automobile and one count of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
Knight is believed to be responsible for a string of more than 10 and up to at least 15 car burglaries in U.S. 61 South neighborhoods.
Most of the burglaries occurred between March and mid-July in the subdivisions of Beau Pré, The Meadows, Southfork Estates and Waverly Road.
After his arrest, more charges were tacked on as a result of investigations by The Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
Justice Court Judge Charlie Vess said Knight is held without bond, due to outstanding fines he neglected to pay and the fact that he was a fugitive from justice for months, making him a flight risk.
Vess also sentenced Knight to six months in jail for the outstanding fines.
Knight now has the option of requesting a bond hearing.
