Plenty of good news to go around in town

Another week in the Miss-Lou came and went with plenty of good news to share.
Before we prepare for the week ahead, let’s take a look back at some of the highlights from last week:
4Concordia Parish resident Payne Scott took over as director of Homeland Security and Preparedness. Scott comes into the position with an extensive background in law enforcement, including working at the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office and Louisiana State Police. Scott says his goal as director is to simp-ly keep the residents of the parish safe. We congratulate Scott on the appointment and wish him the best in the position.
4Betsy Blair plans to take the experiences and knowledge she’s gaining at Trinity Episcopal Day School and share with the world through a life in missions. The Trinity senior felt called to mission work after participating in an international student leadership conference, where she was responsible for leading worship and various other activities. While undecided on where to attend college, Blair hopes to complete a summer internship in Egypt to gain exposure to missionary groups whose main focus is on children. We’re glad to see students in our area wanting to expand their horizons and share their faith across the globe.
4The Natchez-Adams School District received grant funding to help switch the remainder of its deep-fat fryers to steamers in all district schools. Each steamer costs nearly $16,000 and features super-heated steam, which allow cafeteria workers to cook with less saturated and trans fats. We congratulate the district on working to keep our students healthy.
We can’t wait to share the great things our community will do this week in the Miss-Lou.
