NATCHEZ — Natchez was recently named as one of the top 10 places to retire in Mississippi by SmartAsset, a financial technology company.

Natchez, a Certified Retirement Community, made the list at No. 5.

In ranking the list, SmartAsset gathered data on three regional factors that directly impact the quality of life for retirees, taking into account the number of senior citizens living in each area, state and local tax rates, and the number of recreation centers, doctors’ offices and retirement centers in and near the areas.

Using this data, SmartAsset performed a final analysis ranking each county and city. The top 10 cities with the lowest ranking average were chosen as the best places to retire.

A spokesperson for the Natchez Convention and Visitor’s Bureau said Natchez is synonymous with hospitality and considers its people to be among its finest resources.

The city eagerly welcomes new businesses, industries and residents, no matter what place in life they may be, the spokesperson said.
