FERRIDAY — A local car dealership will break ground on a new 18,000-square foot, facility today.
Performance Dodge-Chrystler-Jeep will break ground for the new facility next to its current 6822 U.S. 84 West location near Ferriday at 3 p.m. today.
While the official groundbreaking is this afternoon, owner Brad Yarbrough said all of the pavement and concrete have been poured and all of the lighting is in place for the new location.
“We are building a state of the art retail automotive facility,” Yarbrough said. “It is going to be based on Chrysler recommendations. We plan to be able to display over 300 cars, and we will have state-of-the-art service facilities and equipment to take care of our customers better.”
Some of the services offered at the new building will include Wi-Fi for customers throughout the building, a front-faced service drive for easy accessibility to customers and two lanes in the service drive that will protect customers from weather as they bring in their cars for service, Yarbrough said.
“We will have all LED lighting in the parking lot and throughout the facility so you can see the true colors in the cars, even if you are looking at night,” he said.
Performance Dodge opened in 2007, filling a space formerly occupied by another dealership.
“Since we opened, we have occupied a facility that is very outdated, and we felt like our customers deserved better,” Yarbrough said.
The dealership hopes to be in the new facility by June, Yarbrough said.
No exact plans have been made for the old facility at this time.
