William Percell Givens
MOUNT HERMON — Funeral services for William Percell Givens, 83, of Roxie, who died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, at his home, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mt. Hermon Cemetery in Mount Hermon, La., with the Rev. Micah Rutland officiating, under direction of McKneely Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McKneely Funeral Home in Kentwood.
Givens was born on Dec. 23, 1931, in Sunny Hill, La.
In 1955, he married his wife of 59 years, Peggy Joyce Blades, in Kentwood. He served in the Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Loss Angeles. He retired from Sunbeam Bread in 1978 and Adam County Water Association in 1996.
He is preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers; two sisters; and two grandsons, Casey and Tucker Cupit.
Survivors include his wife; five children, Rhonda Johnson and husband, Randy, Janet Bader and husband, Charles, Buddy Givens and wife, Ann, Barry Givens and wife, Suzanne, and Timmy Givens; 10 grandchildren, Christy Johnson Bonds, Joey Givens, Ashley Givens Henderson, Lindsey Johnson Lott, Timothy Givens, Landon Givens, Sara Landry Kruse, Jake Givens, Margo Givens Smith and Abby Givens; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Landon Givens, Jake Givens, Timothy Givens, Shane Henderson, Ernie Pierce and Jeff Wells.
