NATCHEZ — First Presbyterian Church will host its pot luck patriotic luncheon following its regular service at 10:30 a.m.

The luncheon will be hosted in Fellowship Hall, where Lt. Col. (Ret.) Marvin McDonald will speak about his military experiences from Ft. Bragg to reconnaissance in Vietnam in “Flying Over Vietnam Before it was ‘Vietnam.”

McDonald has a presentation filled with wonderful video and slides.  McDonald, the Fayette High School Band Director when he was called to duty, served two tours with the U. S. Army in South Vietnam, the first was during 1963-64 and the second was during 1967-68. He retired from active duty with the Army in 1981 as a Lieutenant Colonel with 26 years of service. He has a bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Southern Mississippi. Since retirement he has been involved in several musical activities, and in June 2014, he retired from the Natchez Water Works after 20 years of service. Accessible parking and entrance to the Fellowship Hall is on the south side of Fellowship Hall near the Judge Armstrong Library.

After the presentation, the Gandy Collection — Natchez in Historic Photographs exhibit at Stratton Chapel Gallery will be open and available for viewing. The presentation is sponsored by the William Dunbar Chapter DAR. The public is invited to attend.
