JACKSON — Services for the Rev. James Alcorn Foster, 96, who died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, will be at 2 p.m. today First Baptist Church Jackson in the chapel.
Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park under the direction of Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time today in the chapel.
Rev. Foster was born in Jackson. He was a graduate of Mississippi College and earned two master of theology degrees from Southern Seminary College.
Rev. Foster was retired from International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. He served for 36 years as a missionary to China, Philippines and Surinam. When he was on furlough, he served for a number of occasions as pastor of Briel Street Baptist Church in Natchez.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Zelma Foster.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandi Stringer and husband, Bryan, of Natchez; one son, John Foster and wife, Gina, of St. Louis, Mo.; three grandsons, Davis Stringer and wife, Charity, Brad Foster and Joe Foster; one granddaughter, Johnna Foster Agent and husband, Kevin; and four great-grandchildren, Jason Stringer, Lauren Stringer, Mary Morgan Agent and Pepper Agent.
Memorials may be made to Lottie Moon Christmas Offering or the Southern Baptist International Mission Board.
