NATCHEZ — Services for Johnny L. Franklin, 26, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, will be at 1 p.m. today at Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1333 Martin Luther King Road, with the Rev. Ernest Ford officiating.
Burial will follow at the Richland Baptist Church Cemetery in Church Hill under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Mr. Franklin was born June 3, 1988, in Natchez, the third child born to James Franklin and Ruby Griffin Scott.
He was educated in the Natchez-Adams School District.
He was a born again Christian. He was a dedicated worker for a number of years at C-Port-1 (Offshore) located in Port Fourchon, La.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; grandfather, Johnny Griffin III; one brother, John Franklin; one uncle, Edward Dixon; two aunts, Thelma Dixon and Daisy Dixon; and one sister, Josephine Franklin.
Survivors include his loving and devoted companion, Brittany Robinson and their daughter, Kaitley Janae Franklin; grandmother, Ruby Griffin; five brothers, Robert Irving and wife, Felecia, of Chicago, Davin Irving and wife, Whitney, Cottrel Irving, Michael Hoggat and Larry Franklin, all of Natchez; two sisters, Dorothy Minor and husband, Willie, and Kim Christmas, all of Natchez; two aunts, Dorothy Griffin Jenkins and husband, Kenny W., and Betty Logan, all of Natchez; two uncles, Elmer Dixon Sr. and Walter Griffin, both of Natchez; one great-uncle, James Griffin of Natchez; three great-aunts, Ethel Malone, Martha Jones and Dorothy Griffin, all of Chicago; special cousin who was like a brother, Kenneth W. Jenkins Jr.; and a number of other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
