JONESVILLE — Services for Levia Lilly Atkins, 99, of Jonesville, who died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, at her residence, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Jonesville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Norris and the Rev. Jim Elder officiating.
A private family graveside service will be under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Jonesville.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Atkins was born Feb. 9, 1915, in Lavaca (Archie) , La., the daughter of Truman and Otis Wilkinson Breithaupt.
She was a homemaker and an entrepreneur of a number of businesses that included Catahoula Courts, Central Building Supply, Atkins Novelty Company, A&T Drug Store, owner of APA Farms and leased a building to the U.S. postal service at the time of her death.
In her spare time, she could be found playing duplicate bridge at Panola Woods Country Club or with her bridge partners in the Miss Lou.
Levia was a life master bridge player.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Barney Atkins Sr.; one brother, Lee Breithaupt and sister-in-law, Vera; and one sister, Hester Wilson and brother-in-law, Red.
Survivors include one daughter, Ginger Nell Parish and husband, Tuffy, of Jonesville; two sons, Barney Atkins Jr. and wife, Suzanne, of Central, La. and Bill Atkins of Jonesville; 11 grandchildren, Lilly Dawn Harvey, James Parish and wife, Angie, Nicole Pino and husband, Jimmy, Luke Atkins, Christine Descant and husband, Shane, Marjory Alane Atkins, William Atkins, Elizabeth Atkins-McGlothin and husband, Glen, Amanda Owens and husband, Scotty, Rachel Atkins, and Jessica Otwell and husband, Chad; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be James Parish, Luke Atkins, Ross Wigginton, Glen McGlothin, Chad Otwell and Shane Descant.
Honorary pallbearers will be William Atkins, Scotty Owens, Jimmy Pino, Truman Parish, Bryce McGlothin and Haylea Ewing.
The family extends special thanks to Penny Crain, Anna Laura Orr, Mary Margaret Edwards and Camellia Hospice.
