NATCHEZ — Miss-Lou residents should expect heavy rain throughout the weekend, the National Weather Service in Jackson reported.

NWS Meteorologist Mark McAllister expects 2 to 4 inches of rain with a chance of flooding.

“The weather will mainly take place Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening,” McAllister said. “It’s going to be heavy rain all weekend.”

The NWS reported that rivers across the region are currently well below flood stage despite the heavy rain that occurred Tuesday.

Adams County Emergency Management Director Robert Bradford Sr. said Miss-Lou residents should not be worried about other conditions besides heavy rain.

“We will get a lot of rain,” Bradford said. “Just be careful and watch out for possible flooding in the area.”

The heavy rain should continue through Saturday and move on Sunday night.

Additionally, McAllister said there is a chance of severe weather with damaging winds and tornadoes throughout the state.

The severe weather, McAllister said, is because of warm and moist air surges north out of the Gulf of Mexico, ahead of an approaching cold front.
