Authorities searching for escaped Wilkinson County inmate

WOODVILLE — Authorities are searching for an inmate who escaped from Woodville earlier this afternoon.
Jeffery McWhorter, 20, escaped from the Wilkinson County Community Work Center in Woodville at approximately 4:25 p.m. Thursday, according to a Mississippi Department of Corrections press release.
The MDOC inmate is a white male described as being 6-foot-2-inches tall and weighing 180 pounds. McWhorter was last seen wearing state issued green and white striped pants and a white shirt with “MDOC convict” printed on the back. An investigation of how McWhorter left the facility is under way, according to the press release.
McWhorter is serving a 2-year sentence for conviction of burglary from Marion County.
