October in the Miss-Lou … there’s hardly time to breathe.
It’s our busiest and our best month of the year, but we know we’ll be tired by November.
Let’s review a few great things from last week before we get ready for one of the biggest weeks of the year.
Saturday was jam-packed with great outdoor activities as a part of the national “Let’s Move” campaign. St. Catherine Creek Wildlife Refuge and the National Park Service joined forces to get families outside for hikes, bikes and good old-fashioned fun.
The ever-growing Phatwater Kayak Challenge was a success, even though last year’s record time held.
The Cathedral Fall Festival and the Purple Dress Run book ended Saturday with fundraisers.
Wednesday, parish students attended a college fair at the Vidalia Conference and Convention Center, gaining new ideas and more information for their future plans.
Devon Steele, a Vidalia Junior High eighth grader, stays busy capturing life around him with words and photos. The youngster has a bright future, and we can’t wait to see where he lands.
Jefferson County will soon begin construction of a new library, thanks to a USDA grant. Continuing to focus on education and learning is key, no matter what the economic outlook.
A new class of adult drug court graduates is ready to start life again. We are thankful this program exists to truly rehabilitate those who want to change.
Pilgrimage continues this week, and balloon race begins. So there’s no breathing yet, just fun!
