VIDALIA — Matt Woods plans on teaching his two sons everything he can about music.
But Woods also hopes to pass on something more to his sons Connor, 22 months, and Aaron, one month — a passion for music.
When The Dart landed on Azalea Drive in Vidalia, Woods and his wife Kari were relaxing with Connor and Aaron after Woods got home from work at Joe Woods Flooring.
Aside from his family, music is the next love of Wood’s life.
“I loved music since I was really young,” Woods said. “I think I got it from my mom. She played piano.”
Woods started playing guitar when he was 15, and his affinity for the instrument just grew from there.
“I couldn’t put it down,” he said. “I played every chance I got.”
Playing guitar led him to join several bands around the area. Recently, Woods was playing in a band that he co-founded with his friend Trey Brasher and cousin John Thurman called Southern Drawl. But Woods decided to leave the band because his wife was pregnant with their second child.
“I wanted to focus on the family,” he said. “I love being a father.”
Now, a regular sight around the Woods household is Connor sharing his father’s lap with a guitar. Connor strums while Woods finds the notes on the neck.
Even though Connor is too young to learn, Woods already got him his first guitar.
“He already seems to love music,” Woods said. “He is always dancing around the house.”
