NATCHEZ — The Vidalia Board of Alderman adopted an ordinance Tuesday night to borrow $6.94 million to fund construction of a new municipal complex.

Pending approval from the Louisiana Bond Commission, the city will be able to take out the loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which will be paid out in 40 years.

Mayor Hyram Copeland, who did not attend Tuesday’s meeting, has said he hopes construction on the complex will begin in late October.
