Grady E. Boykin

NATCHEZ — Funeral services for Grady E. Boykin, 89, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, at his residence, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Len McRainey officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon Monday until time of service Monday at the funeral home.

Boykin was born on July 14, 1925, in Quitman, the son of Thomas Le Boykin and Ruby Vivian Fleming Boykin.

He was president of the Men’s Club and a trustee at Lovely Lane United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Adams County Airport Commission. He was a veteran of World War II, serving from 1943 to 1946 in the 101st Airborne. He was involved in the European Theater serving in France, Belgium, Bastone, Holland and Germany.

Boykin was preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Michael Thomas Boykin.

Survivors include his wife, Sally Boykin; one son, Grady E. Boykin Jr. of Vidalia; one granddaughter, Lacey Boykin Jester and husband, Eddie, of Vidalia; step daughters, Roni Gaudet and husband, Lucien, of Lake St. John, Renee Wisner and husband, Edward, Johna Verucchi, Verna Russ and husband, Kevin, all of Natchez, and Maria Todd and husband, Rusty, of Houma; great–granddaughter, Grace Michael Jester; two step grandchildren, Kaylie Jester and Keagan Brown; two sisters, Dorothy Sellers and Juanita Glass, both of Quitman; one brother, Thomas C. Boykin of Quitman; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Jeffery Glass, Bill Glass, Steve Glass, George Sellers Jr., Richard Roads and Dale Henderson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Claude Harrigill, Jim Cotton and Buddy Roads.
