VIDALIA — Services for Harvey Leon Burns, 68, of Ferriday, who died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, at Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, La., surrounded by his loving family, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Assembly Church of Vidalia with the Rev. Roger Myers officiating.

Burial will follow at the Pease Cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church.

Mr. Burns was born Sept. 6, 1946, the son of Jack and Willie Bee Burnham Burns.

He was a manager of Vidalia Market in Vidalia. He also served in the U.S. Navy for 10 years and fought in the Vietnam War and received a Vietnam service metal with three stars and a National Defense Medal.

Mr. Burns loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart. He will be surely missed by all that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Jackie Fay McPhail; and one grandchild, Kimberly Charrier.

Survivors include his loving wife, Doris Burns; three sons, Artellis Charrier and wife, Pauline, Kent Charrier and wife, Crystal, and Dusty Burns and wife, India, all of Vidalia; three daughters, Tammie Cloud and husband, Wayne, of Baird, Texas, Melinda Stevens and husband, Ken, of Lakeside, Texas and Mary Baker and husband, Chad, of Woodson, Texas; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be John Michael Charrier, Joey Bryan, Justin Burns, Charles Ellard, Curtis Ellard, Clint Robinson and Chad Baker.
