NATCHEZ — Services for Rachel Washington, 63, of Natchez, who died Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at noon Saturday at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.120514RachelWashington obitpic

Burial will follow at the Mount Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery in Sibley under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 5:45 p.m. with a celebration of life wake service at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Visitation will continue from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Washington was born Dec. 10, 1950, in Sibley, the daughter of Clara King Jackson and Field Jackson.

She was a 1969 graduate of Sadie V. Thompson High School and attended Natchez Junior College.

Mrs. Washington was retired from the Natchez-Adams School District.

She was a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church in Sibley where she served as a deaconess, a member of the senior choir, the missionary society and the Co-Workers Club.

She enjoyed shopping, eating out, attending church, attending kids games and traveling.

Mrs. Washington was preceded in death by her parents; one son, John R. West Jr.; two sisters, Katie Mae Floyd and Cheryl Williams; and one great-niece, Terriana Thompson.

Survivors include her husband, Michael G. Washington; two daughters, Yolanda R. West and Raven V. West; three sisters, Mammie Minor, Alice Jackson and Vinnie Brown; one granddaughter, Arielle Mansaw; one goddaughter, Jasmine Ivory; and other relatives and friends.
