BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — A celebration of life service for Frances M. Witherspoon, 71, of Bloomington, Ill., who died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014, at her residence, will be announced at a later date.120514FrancesMWitherspoon obitpic

Services will be at Loving Missionary Baptist Church in Bloomington with the Rev. William L. Johnson officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Kibler-Brady Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington.

Mrs. Witherspoon was born July 13, 1943, in Natchez, the daughter of Sandy and Bessie Gibson Rollins. She married Oscar Witherspoon, Nov. 24, 1984, in East St. Louis, Ill.

She was a social worker and worked with families at Project OZ, Crisis Nursery and the Baby Fold. She also worked at Youth Services, the Children’s Foundation and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.

She enjoyed shopping, traveling, cooking and baking.

Frances most loved the time she spent with her family and grandchildren.

Mrs. Witherspoon was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Johnnie Cotton; three brothers, David Rollins, Charles Williams and Joseph Williams.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Michael Smith; two grandchildren, Dustin Smith and Sydney Smith, all in Bloomington; four sisters, Mildred Lewis and husband, Leslie, of Houston, Anna Whitting and husband, David, of Pomona, Calif., Delores Rogers and husband, Jimmie, of Bloomington and Linda Fay Williams of Las Vegas; one brother, Johnnie Ford and wife, Pauline, of Atlanta; three nieces, Karen Cotton Berry and husband, Ronnie, Trini Wiley and Tracy Jones, all of Bloomington; and a number of other nieces and nephews.
