NATCHEZ — Christmas cheer will fill the weekend as musical entertainment, a luncheon and Christmas parades roll through the Miss-Lou.

Showers are expected for the weekend, with highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s.

Natchez Garden Club Victorian Luncheon

The Natchez Garden Club will host their annual Victorian Luncheon and soup casserole sale from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Magnolia Hall, located the corner of Washington and Pearl streets in downtown Natchez.

Natchez Garden Club members have prepared several casseroles and soups to help get Miss-Lou residents ready for the holidays.

“They will be frozen so you can stock up your freezer for the holidays,” said NGC publicity chairman Jennie Guido. “This is an exciting time of the year for us.”

Guido said the event will serve several appetizers, with vintage decorations inside Magnolia Hall.

Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at the door.

Christmas Cabaret

The Natchez Festival of Music has teamed with Christmas in Natchez to host its third annual Christmas Cabaret.

The Natchez Convention Center will host the event, which features live entertainment, at 6 p.m.

Individual tickets are $35 and can be purchased at the door, or $300 for a table of 10.

The University of Southern Mississippi’s jazz group will provide the background for vocalists Jennifer Hart, John Christopher and Mary Ann Kyle, who will join Joseph Britain, pianist for the Christmas Cabaret performance.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. with a cash bar available.

Christmas Parades

Natchez, Vidalia and Ferriday will host their annual Christmas parades this weekend.

The Natchez Christmas parade will take place at 6 p.m. Saturday in downtown Natchez, with line-up beginning at 5 p.m. on Broadway Street. From Broadway, the parade will turn left on Canal Street, right on Main Street, left on Union Street and will then take a left on Franklin Street and travel back to Broadway.

“It’s just a way to kick off the holiday season for Natchez and have some family fun,” said Christmas in Natchez committee member Kari Blaney.

The Ferriday Christmas parade will be at 6 p.m. Saturday with line up at 5 p.m. at Ferriday High School. The parade will then travel down E.E. Wallace Boulevard, turn left by Kentucky Fried Chicken, travel down Louisiana Avenue and conclude at Ferriday High School.

The theme this year will be “Light Up the Night for Christmas.”

The Vidalia Christmas parade will be at 3 p.m. Sunday with line up at 2 p.m. at Vidalia Upper Elementary and will roll down Carter Street to Vidalia High School.

The theme this year will be “I’m Dreaming of a Cancer-free Christmas.”

Natchez Little Theatre, “A Natchez Christmas Carol”

The Natchez Little Theatre will present “A Natchez Christmas Carol” at 7 p.m. tonight and continue each Friday, Saturday and Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. through Dec. 20th, with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. on Dec. 7, 14 and 21 at the Natchez Little Theatre on 319 Linton Ave., at Maple Street.

Alcorn State University Choir at St. Mary

Alcorn State University will host its annual Christmas concert at 7 p.m. at St. Mary Basilica. The public is welcome to attend.

Friends of the Library Christmas Tour

The 2014 Friends of the Library Christmas Tour will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Judge George W. Armstrong Library on 220 S. Commerce St.

The event is an annual fundraiser, which provides an opportunity to tour private Natchez residences that are not on tour any other time.

Individual tickets can be purchased for $15 or $25 for two tickets and will include all homes.

Homes on tour will include The Callon House, on 104 Plantation Road, Highpoint, on 215 Linton Ave. and the Jackson House, on 606 N. Union St.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at the library, the Natchez Pilgrimage Tours at the Visitor’s Center and the door of any homes on the day of the event.

Friday Forum

The Friday Forum will take place at 8 a.m. Friday at the Natchez Coffee Company on Franklin Street. The topic will focus on Health Help Mississippi that facilitates education on new small business health options. The public is welcome to attend.
