NATCHEZ — The Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce hopes you’ll get a laugh out of its biggest annual event.
The chamber gala will be Oct. 26, and the main speaker specializes in laughs with a twist.
Marshall Ramsey, a syndicated editorial cartoonist who works at the Clarion-Ledger, will bring a different atmosphere to the event, chamber director Debbie Hudson said.
“He’s lighter, but with a little political flair,” she said.
Ramsey was a speaker at last spring’s Natchez Literary and Cinema Celebration and told Hudson he’d be happy to spend more time in town.
The gala — the chamber’s biggest fundraiser — is open to the public.
Businesses can buy sponsorships and table seats for $2,000, 20 seats; $1,000, 10 seats; $500, five seats; or $250, two seats.
The cost of the tickets for individuals is $75 for members and $100 for future members.
The cocktail hour will begin at 6 and last until 6:45 p.m. The program will begin at 7, with awards given to the Natchezians of the Year and local businesses. The event will be at the Natchez Convention Center.
Dinner options will be similar to those in recent years, with tables set up from a variety of local chefs and businesses.
After the program, the band Jazz at Sunset from Jackson will perform for those who’d like to dance.
The program will end by 8 p.m., but those in attendance are welcome to stay for dancing until 9:30 p.m. The event will also include a silent auction. Tickets can be purchased by calling the chamber of commerce at 601-445-4611.
