NATCHEZ — The Mississippi Attorney General’s Office announced Tuesday the indictment of the former Adams County Juvenile Justice Center administrator.

Charles Kevin Nations, 42, was arrested Monday following an indictment by an Adams County grand jury on one count embezzlement by a public employee.

Nations is accused of embezzling more than $100,000 from the center, according to the attorney general’s news release.

County officials have in the past said the amount of allegedly embezzled money exceeded $165,000.

Roger Cribb of the attorney general’s public integrity division investigated the case, and Assistant Attorney General Stan Alexander will prosecute it.

If convicted, Nations faces up to 20 years prison and $5,000 in fines.

A grand jury indictment means the jury believes enough evidence exists to establish probable cause to charge a suspect with a crime.

Nations is set to be arraigned Wednesday.
