Pine Bluff, Ark. — Funeral services for Rufus Denton Magoun, 88, who died Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, at Davis Life Center in Pine Bluff, will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son in Pine Bluff with the Rev. James Watson officiating.
Burial will be private.
Visitation will follow the service at the funeral home.
Magoun was born Jan. 3, 1926 in Harmon, La., the son of Alma and Kirk Scruggs Magoun.
He lived the first 32 years of his life in Vidalia, and served three years in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He worked for International Paper in Natchez.
In 1958, he moved his family to Pine Bluff and completed 37 years of service at IP’s Pine Bluff mill.
Magoun enjoyed several hobbies. He was an excellent woodworker and a good auto mechanic. He loved helping people and gave hours of his time for that purpose.
Magoun was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; and son, Richard Magoun.
Survivors include his wife, Margie; daughter Dori Galloway and husband, Mike; five stepchildren; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
