FERRIDAY — Ferriday Mayor Glen McGlothin has been back to work since Tuesday after a successful surgery following his diagnosis of colon cancer.

“It feels great to be alive,” he said. “I went to a great doctor, at a great hospital and everything went well.”

McGlothin said the test results after the surgery came back negative, and he is very fortunate to be in the condition he is in.

“I am very blessed,” he said. “I do not have to have chemo. I just have six weeks of rehab.”

McGlothin was diagnosed with colon cancer in September and had surgery to remove the cancer Oct. 11.

“I’m back, I’m just not working all day,” he said. “I have been on call.”

McGlothin said he was grateful for the outpouring of concern while he was in the hospital.

“People have no idea how much I appreciated the calls and visits,” he said. “I was bombarded with support.”
