Parish teen struck by vehicle in hit and run

VIDALIA — Two Natchez residents were arrested after a 14-year-old boy walking with his younger brother on Mooselodge Road near Vidalia was struck by a vehicle Sunday.
Spanky A. Felter, 20, 100 Red Loop Road, was the passenger of the vehicle and was charged with aggravated battery for allegedly opening the passenger side door of the Toyota truck as it was traveling.
The door struck the boy in the back, and knocked him to the ground.
The driver of the vehicle, Cody Michael Freeman, 20, 154 Forest Home Road, was charged with hit and run for fleeing the scene of an accident.
Freeman claimed to have been traveling at approximately 30 mph at the time of the accident.
The victim was transported by ambulance to Natchez Community Hospital where he was treated for back injuries then released.
According to Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Captain David Hedrick, the victim’s mother immediately notified law enforcement of the truck’s location when she spotted the vehicle after the accident in Natchez.
