VIDALIA — One candidate in the Seventh Judicial District Court Judge race appeared to have won based on election results Tuesday night, while the trailing candidate began preparing for a runoff election.

As of Tuesday night, the Louisiana Secretary of State reported John Reeves received 5,040 votes, or 50.12 percent, in Concordia and Catahoula Parishes for the Division B judge’s seat.

Jack McLemore received 3,272 votes, or 32.54 percent, in both parishes.

A third candidate Ronnie McMillin received 1,743 votes, or 17.33 percent, in both parishes.

With all 48 precincts reporting, the unofficial results showed Reeves, who was unavailable for comment Tuesday, winning the election.

McLemore, however, said he was preparing for a runoff election in December.

“I’m looking forward to having a race between just John Reeves and myself,” McLemore said. “We’re not anywhere near down and out.

“I’m not ready to give up.”

In Concordia Parish, an estimated 6,537 members of the parish’s 13,449 electors — 48.6 percent — expressed their opinions at the polls.

In other Concordia Parish elections:

Ricky Lee Raven received 847 votes, or 55.04 percent, to beat Damon Knapp for the position of Concordia Parish School Board member district 3, place A.

Ronnie Bradford received 694 votes, or 59.93 percent, to beat Ron Walter for the position of Concordia Parish School Board member district 4, place A.

Approximately 3,062 residents, or 55.68 percent, voted “yes” on a parishwide sales tax renewal proposition.

Approximately 499 residents, or 66.01 percent, voted “yes” on a sales tax renewal for the Town of Ferriday.
