NATCHEZ — The staff at the Natchez Water Treatment Plant received a 50-year Institutional Length of Service award in September from the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Jackson.
Although the water treatment plant took over in 1996, the city of Natchez Water Works has been doing observations weather observations for the National Weather Service since July 1964.
The observers have provided temperature and rainfall data nearly every day of the year for fifty years, rarely missing a day. An NWS spokesperson said the service is grateful to the staff past and present for their dedication.
