BAKER, La. — The MAIS District 5-AA championship was on the line Friday night as Central Private School played host to Centreville Academy, with both teams sporting 3-0 records in district play going into the game.

After Central Private took an early 6-0 lead, the game quickly turned into the Cliff Hurst show as he ran through the Rebels’ defense to the tune of 203 yards and four touchdowns on 20 carries to lead the Tigers to a 35-14 win and the district title.

Zack Stephens scored on a 16-yard run with 4:50 remaining in the first quarter to give Central Private that 6-0 lead. But on the first play of the second quarter, Hurst scored on a 2-yard run and his first of five extra points gave Centreville a lead the Tigers would never relinquish.
