NATCHEZ — Funeral services for Marie “Fannie” W. Ransom, 97, who died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Murray Temple Church of God in Christ with the Rev. Elijah Lewis officiating.

Burial will follow at St. Mary Basilica Memorial Garden under direction of Marshal Funeral Home.

Wake service will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Marshal Funeral Home in Natchez.

Viewing will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Murray Temple Church of God in Christ until time of service.

Ransom was born on Aug. 7, 1917, in Natchez, the daughter of Samuel Washington and Eliza Gooseberry.

Ransom faithfully served on both the mother’s and missionary boards.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Howard Ransom.

Survivors include daughters, Evelyn E. Ransom of New Orleans and Elizabeth M. Harris of Chicago; granddaughter, Ria Rai of Chicago; great-grandson, Ahmad Hill of Chicago, and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
