Nelson Rufus Chelette

RUBY — Funeral services for Nelson Rufus Chelette, 94, a farmer of Ferriday, who died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014, at his residence in Ferriday, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Comer Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Cullum officiating.
Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Ruby, La., under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Chelette was born on April 8, 1920, in Ruby, the son of Marion and Ora Scroggs Chelette.
Chelette loved his family and will be missed by all that knew him.
Chelette was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Thelma White; son, Raymond Chelette; daughter, Sheila Chelette; grandchild, Tracy Wayne Chelette; four sisters, Marie Hickman, Ruby Rougeau, Velma Cassell and Doris Holton.
Survivors include sons Rufus “Buckshot” and wife, Debra, of Zachary, Scottie and wife, Deborah, of Ferriday; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister Lucille Muzny of San Antonio; brothers, Dean Chelette and wife, JoAnn, of Alexandria, Staley Chelette and wife, Audrey, of Marksville, Billy Ray Chelette and wife, Vivian, of Mansfield, and F.M. Chelette and wife, Pat, of Little Rock, Ark.
